# Use the drivers planner

Plan trips, timeslots and calendar events per driver on a day, two-day or week timeline, and drag work onto drivers.

**Who can do this:** The drivers planner feature (chauffeurs-planner) on your platform.

The drivers planner shows one lane per driver along a timeline. On each lane you see the driver's trips, timeslots, calendar events, to-dos and planned actions. You use it to see who is free and to plan work directly on a driver.

## Open the drivers planner

* Open the side menu (☰), choose **Drivers** and click **Planner** next to the list title. The planner opens on its own page.
* Or go to the dashboard, open the **Planner** tab and switch the type selector to **Chauffeur**.

## Find your way around

1. Choose the period: **Day**, **2 days** or **Week**.
2. Use the arrows to move through time, or **Today** to jump back.
3. Type in the search field to find drivers by name.
4. Use the filter and sort icons to narrow down and order the lanes. Your filters are remembered.
5. Use the search panel on the left to find shipments and other items to plan.

## Create work on a driver

1. In the planner header, choose what a click on a lane creates: **\+ Create trip**, **\+ Create calendar event**, **Create activity** (a timeslot) or **\+ Create action**.
2. Click an empty spot on the driver's lane at the time you want.
3. Fill in the form that opens and click **Save**.

You can also right-click an empty spot and choose **New trip here**, **Plan activity**, **New calendar event** or **Plan action**.

## Plan by dragging

* Drag a shipment from the side panel onto a driver's lane. Transportial creates a trip for that driver, starting at the time where you drop it, with the driver's first paired vehicle.
* Drag a trip bar to another time or another driver to move it.
* Drag a calendar event or a planned action marker to reschedule it.
* Drag a vehicle from the search panel onto the driver's name at the start of a lane to pair them.

If your planning settings split shipments when trips are created automatically, a dropped shipment only plans its first two actions. See [Plan board settings](/en-us/help/plan-board-settings).

## Open and change items

* Click a trip to open it and make changes.
* Click a timeslot to change it, or to remove it with **Remove** if your role may delete timeslots. Tachograph timeslots are locked.
* Click a calendar event to edit it.

## Bulk availability

Open the options menu in the planner header and choose **Bulk availability** to create timeslots, calendar events or to-dos for many drivers at once. See [Plan driver availability](/en-us/help/driver-activities).
