# Plan driver availability

Record work, rest, holiday and sick time as timeslots, repeat them on a schedule, remove them and see each driver’s activity timeline.

Updated October 5, 2026

**Who can do this:** Access to drivers. Creating timeslots from the driver list needs the drivers planner feature.

A timeslot tells planners what a driver is doing or whether they are available in a period. Timeslots appear in the drivers planner and on the driver's **Driver activity timeline**. Activities received from a tachograph or board computer also appear there.

## Timeslot types

Choose one of: **Work**, **Driving**, **Available**, **Day off**, **Rest**, **Vacation**, **Holiday**, **Sick** or **Unavailable**. By default vacation, holiday, sick and unavailable make the driver unavailable for planning; your platform can configure this differently.

## Create a timeslot for one driver

1. Open the side menu (☰) and choose **Drivers**.
2. Click **\+ Create timeslot** on the driver's row (or right-click the row and choose **Plan**).
3. Choose the **Timeslot type**.
4. Set the **Start date and time** and **End date and time**. The form shows the duration and marks an end on the next day with **End is next day (+1)**.
5. Optionally add a **Description**.
6. To repeat the timeslot, turn on **Repetitive** and choose a pattern in **Select recurrence pattern**.
7. Click **Save**.

Repeat patterns are **Daily**, **Weekly** (with **Select days of week**), **Monthly** (with **Day of month**), **Yearly** and **Rotation (weeks on/off)** with **Weeks on** and **Weeks off**.

You can also create a timeslot in the drivers planner with **Create activity**. See [Use the drivers planner](/en-us/help/chauffeur-planner).

## Set availability for many drivers at once

1. Right-click a driver and choose **Set availability**, or choose **Bulk availability** from the options menu in the drivers planner.
2. Under **What should be created**, choose **Chauffeur timeslot**, **Recurring calendar event** or **Todo**.
3. Enter a **Title**, the **Start date & time** and the **End date & time**, and the repeat pattern.
4. For a timeslot, choose the **Activity type**. For a calendar event, decide whether it **Blocks availability**.
5. Add drivers in **Search chauffeur...**, or click **Filter chauffeurs** to select them by type, language, ADR certificate or driver license.
6. Check the **Matched targets** preview.
7. Click **Save**.

## Change or remove a timeslot

1. Open the drivers planner.
2. Click the timeslot on the driver's lane.
3. Change the type, times or repeat pattern in **Update timeslot**.
4. Click **Save**.

To delete the timeslot instead, click **Remove** at the bottom of **Update timeslot** and confirm the question **Are you sure you want to delete this timeslot?**. The button is only shown when your role may delete timeslots.

Timeslots that come from the tachograph show a lock icon. They follow the recorded data and cannot be edited.

## The driver activity timeline

Open a driver to see the **Driver activity timeline**: one day, with lanes for **Driving**, **Work**, **Available** and **Rest**. Use the arrows to move a day back or forward and **Today** to return to the current day.
