# Find nearby orders for a trip

Search unplanned orders near a trip, a stop or the end of a trip, check detour, capacity and timing, and add one to the trip in one click.

Updated October 13, 2026

**Who can do this:** The nearbyPlanning platform feature and permission to see nearby planning or recommendations. Adding to a trip needs permission to update trips.

Nearby planning shows which unplanned orders fit a trip you already have: close to its route, near one of its stops or after its last stop. It also works the other way round: for one shipment, it shows which trips can still take it.

## Open the nearby orders

* Right-click a trip on the trip board, in the trips list or on the planner and choose **Find nearby orders** (along the route) or **Find the next order after this trip**.
* On the planner, right-click a stop inside the trip bar and choose **Find nearby orders from this stop**.
* Right-click a shipment, for example in Watchtower, and choose **Find trips nearby**.

The panel **Nearby orders** (or **Trips nearby**) opens on the right. Completed and canceled trips do not have these menu items.

## Read the results

1. Check the line under the title: **Along the route**, **Around stop** or **After the last stop**.
2. Click a **Radius** button (5, 10, 25 or 50 km, plus your platform default) to search wider or narrower.
3. Look at the map: it shows the trip's route, the search area and the pickups found.
4. Read each result: the shipment and customer, pickup → delivery, the fit score as a percentage (or **Does not fit**), the distance, the detour in mile and minutes, and where it would go in the trip (**After stop** followed by a number).
5. Check the chips: one per capacity dimension, such as **Weight**, **Load meters**, **Volume**, **Pallets** or **TEU** (hover one to see what is needed and what is left), and a timing chip: **Times fit**, **Check times**, **Misses a window** or **No planned times**.
6. Click a result to show its pickup and delivery on the map.

A detour marked **routed** was calculated over the road; others are an estimate. The time check uses the same tolerances as the plan status; see [Time windows and plan status](/en-us/help/time-windows-and-plan-status).

## Add an order to the trip

1. Find a result that fits.
2. Click **Add to trip**.
3. Wait until the result shows **Added**. The pickup and delivery are put into the trip at the position shown, and the list refreshes.
4. Open the trip to check the new stops and times.

Results that do not fit cannot be added. If **More matches than shown; narrow the radius** appears, choose a smaller radius.

## For administrators: settings

Under **Settings** \> **Environment** \> **Planning** \> **Find nearby** you set, among others, the **Default search radius (mi)**, the **Largest radius (mi)**, **Most results**, the **Order statuses that count as still to plan**, the **Longest wait before a pickup window (minutes)**, **Tight capacity from (%)** and whether to **Also show candidates that do not fit**. Click **Save** after changes.
