# Change your personal settings

Update your profile, language and regional formats, theme and layout, planning defaults, notification preferences and desktop app options.

Your personal settings change how Transportial looks and behaves for you only. Your colleagues are not affected. Platform-wide settings are managed by administrators, see [Platform settings](/en-us/help/platform-settings).

## Open your settings

1. Click ☰ at the top right to open the side menu.
2. Click **Settings**.
3. Choose a tab on the left: **General**, **Security**, **User interface**, **Planning** or **Notifications**. In Transportial Desktop there is also **Desktop app**.

Changes on the **User interface**, **Planning** and **Notifications** tabs are saved as soon as you change them. On the **General** tab, click **Update**.

## General

* **Choose a profile picture**, **First Name**, **Last name**, **Username** and **E-mail**.
* **Account type** (external users only): **Planning**, **Finance** or **Management**, depending on your platform. It decides which dashboard view you start in.
* **Language**: the language of the app.
* **Region & formats**: **Units** (metric or imperial), **Currency**, **Number & currency format**, **Date format**, **Time format** (24-hour or 12-hour) and **Time zone**. Leave a field on **Platform default** to follow your company's setting. For the time zone you can also choose **Automatically** to follow your computer. **Preview** shows the result.

## Security

Sessions, connected apps, your password and two-factor authentication. See [Log in and keep your account secure](/en-us/help/log-in-and-security).

## User interface

| Setting                      | What it does                                                                                                                                        |
| ---------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Theme**                    | **System**, **Light by day, dark at night**, **Dark** or **Light**.                                                                                 |
| **Default perspective**      | The settings group you start in on this platform. Only shown if you belong to settings groups.                                                      |
| **Table Types**              | **Table** or **Dynamic** layout for the planning boards.                                                                                            |
| **Remember filters**         | **Platform default**, **Per view** or **Per entity (shared across views)**. See [Filter, sort and arrange lists](/en-us/help/filters-and-tables).   |
| **Sidebar type**             | **Card** or **List** for the resource search panel in the planners.                                                                                 |
| **Type forms**               | **Dynamic** or **Flat**. The flat form opens a new transport order over the full width.                                                             |
| **Simplify forms (beta)**    | Hides less-used options in forms such as the transport order form.                                                                                  |
| **Pinned chat (beta)**       | Keeps your chat conversations available at the bottom of the screen.                                                                                |
| **Dashboard elements**       | Show or hide the **Map planner**, **Onboarding banner** and **Insights tab** on the dashboard.                                                      |
| **Do not show input fields** | Type the names of form fields you never use to hide them.                                                                                           |
| **Transport Order**          | A personal default template that pre-fills new transport orders, instead of the platform's template. Your administrator or support can provide one. |

## Planning

* **Standard link trips**: link a new trip to the previous one by default. You can still change it per trip.
* **Split shipment with automatic trip creation**: when a trip is created by drag and drop, only plan one unplanned A-B leg.
* **The left resource search panel opens**: open the search panel in the planners by default.
* **Duration at least until next window time**: make the journey between stops last at least until the next time window.
* **Route alternatives**: show fastest, eco and cheapest route options when calculating a route.
* **Standard visible data types**: show **Trips**, **Events** and **Activities** in the planners by default.

## Notifications

For **Transport Order**, **Email** and **Vehicle** notifications you can switch the notification **Off/On**, and choose whether it is also sent by **E-mails** and to **Mobile**. Administrators also see **Support centrum**. Under **Automation Preferences** you can switch individual message automations on or off for yourself. See [Notifications](/en-us/help/notifications).

## Desktop app

Only in Transportial Desktop. See [Desktop settings and environments](/en-us/help/desktop-settings-and-environments).

## Administrator tabs

Users with a role level above 600 also see **Variables**, **Types** and **Import data**. Platform owners also see **Environment**, **SAML SSO** and the billing tabs. These change the platform for everyone.
