# Run a report on the Insights tab

Pick one of the ready-made reports, set its filters and date range, and view or download the results as Excel.

**Who can do this:** The Insights or Reporting platform feature and the insight permission. Not available to external users.

The **Insights** tab on the dashboard gives you ready-made reports about your trips, vehicles, drivers, orders and finances. You choose a report, fill in its filters and Transportial builds the tables for you. You can then hide columns and download the result as an Excel file.

The tab has three sub-tabs: **Insights** (the ready-made reports described here), **Reporting** (see [Build your own report with the query builder](/en/help/reporting-query-builder)) and **AI assistant** (see [Ask the AI assistant about your data](/en/help/insights-ai-assistant)).

## Before you start

* The tab only shows when your platform has the Insights or Reporting feature and your role has the insight permission.
* You can hide the tab for yourself under **Settings** \> **User interface**. If you do not see it, check that setting first.

## Run a report

1. Click the home icon in the header to open the dashboard.
2. Make sure the view selector at the top right is set to **Planning**, then click the **Insights** tab.
3. Open the **Select type of insight** dropdown and choose a report, for example **Fleet trips in date range**.
4. Fill in the filters that appear for that report, such as a vehicle, a vehicle group, drivers or a location.
5. Pick the period in the calendar: click the first day, then click the last day.
6. Click **Make insightful!**. While the report loads you see **Making insightful...**.

The period always runs from the start of the first day to the end of the last day. There are no preset periods such as "last week"; click the two days you need.

## Available reports

The list is numbered in the dropdown. Which filters you see depends on the report.

For **Fleet move actions in date range** you can also switch on **Like a table**. This merges all tables except the summary into one table.

## Work with the results

The report name appears as the heading. Reports that cover several vehicles or drivers show a row of tabs, one per table, that you can scroll through. A totals row may appear at the bottom of a table.

Use the icons at the top right of the result:

* **Columns** shows a checklist to show or hide columns. Your choice is remembered per report in this browser.
* **Download** exports the visible columns to an Excel (.xlsx) file. Reports with several tables get one sheet per table.
* **Settings** (reports with several tables only) lets you tick **Hide empty tables**.
* **Reload** takes you back to the selection form so you can change the filters and run the report again.

If there is no data for your filters, or the report fails, click **Reset** to return to the form.
