# Chat with planners and colleagues

Read and send messages in OpenMove, start a chat with one or more people, share files and photos, and switch between original and translated text.

The **Chats** tab is where you talk with your planners and colleagues. Messages you send appear in the Transportial web app, and replies from the office appear here.

## Find a chat

* Open the **Chats** tab. Your chats are listed with the newest first.
* A number on a chat shows how many unread messages it has.
* Type in **Search by keyword...** to find a chat.

## Send a message

1. Tap a chat to open it.
2. Tap **Write message here...** and type your message.
3. Optionally, use the bold and italic buttons to format text, or undo and redo.
4. To add a file or photo, tap the attachment icon and pick the file. Wait until it has uploaded.
5. Tap the send icon.

If you see **Some files are not uploaded yet**, wait a moment for the attachment to finish uploading and tap send again.

## Start a new chat

1. On the **Chats** tab, tap the new chat icon at the top right.
2. Search for a person by name.
3. Tap each person you want to add. They appear at the top; tap the red cross on a picture to remove someone.
4. If you selected more than one person, give the group a **Title**.
5. Tap **Start chat**.
6. Write your first message. A new chat shows "Say Hi, to start your conversation".

## Translated messages

If your company uses translation, messages written in another language are shown in your app language. Tap **Show original** under a message to read the text as it was written, and **Show translation** to switch back.

## Files in messages

* Tap an image to view it full screen.
* Tap the download icon on a file to save it. When it is done, tap **Open** in the message at the bottom of the screen.

Without a connection you can still read chats you opened before and write messages. OpenMove sends them as soon as you are back online. See [Use OpenMove without a connection](/en/help/openmove-offline-use).
