# Set up the plan board

Choose columns, column order and widths, sorting, labels, the table or card layout and next-trip views; administrators set Load all and row colours.

Updated 4 October 2026

**Who can do this:** Load all, icons and colours: platform administrators with access to the Environment settings.

You can shape each plan board to the way you work. Most choices are personal and are remembered in your browser per board. A few options are set for the whole platform by an administrator.

## Choose the columns

1. Open the board on the [plan board](/en/help/plan-board).
2. Click **Columns** in the toolbar.
3. Tick the fields you want to show and untick the others.
4. Open the **Driver** and **Transport Equipment** sections for fields about coupled drivers and equipment.
5. Drag fields in the list to change their order.
6. Close the panel.

The **Information** column is always shown. Fields that can have several values, such as drivers, are repeated per value and numbered "#1", "#2".

## Which columns are available

| Board | Examples of columns |

Expected revenue, turnover and cost columns are only visible with access to financial data.

## Resize, reorder and sort in the table

* Drag the edge of a column header to change its width.
* Drag a column header to move the column.
* Click a column header to sort by it. Click again to reverse the order. This works for columns that have a matching sort option.
* Or click **Sort** and choose an option with ↑ (ascending) or ↓ (descending).

## Table or cards

1. Open the side menu (☰) and choose **Settings**.
2. Click **User interface**.
3. Under **Table Types**, choose **Table** for a spreadsheet-like grid or **Dynamic** for card-like rows.

The choice applies to the plan board and Watchtower. Row checkboxes for bulk actions on the vehicle, chauffeur and means-of-transport boards are only available in **Dynamic**.

## Board settings

Click **Settings** in the board's toolbar for these options:

* **Only first label**: in the card layout, shows the column labels on the first row only (on by default).
* **Show labels**: shows the column labels on every row.
* **Next trip view** (vehicle board): adds a table with each vehicle's next trip beside the vehicle rows.
* **Second next trip view** (vehicle board): adds a second table for the trip after that.

With a next trip view on, a second **Columns** icon chooses the trip columns. Drag the dividers to change the width of the tables. You can drag a consignment, driver or equipment onto a next-trip cell to add it to that trip.

## For administrators: Load all

1. Open **Settings** and click the **Environment** tab.
2. Open **UI Settings**.
3. Switch on **Show a “Load all” button on planboards and planners**.
4. Optionally choose **Roles that get the “Load all” button**. Leave it empty to show it to every role.
5. Optionally set **Rows per request while loading all**.
6. Click **Save**.

Loading all rows of a large fleet is a heavy request. That is why the button is off by default.

## For administrators: icons and colours

Under **UI Settings** \> **Planboard icons & colours**, click **\+ Add formatting rule** to colour the status bar of rows that match filters, and add an icon. Per rule you set **Enabled**, the entity (**Select entity**), the **Icon**, **Color**, **Tooltip**, **Order** and the filters that decide which rows match. Click **Save** when done.
