# Manage trailers and other means of transport

Register trailers, containers, chassis and other equipment, connect them to vehicles and set their availability.

**Who can do this:** Access to means of transport (the transportEquipment permission) in your role.

In Transportial, trailers, containers, chassis, boxes, load carriers and pallets are called **Means of transport**. You register them once, connect them to vehicles and plan them on trips.

## Open the list

1. Open the side menu (☰, top right).
2. Choose **Means of transport**.
3. Search or filter, for example on **Without vehicle** or **Vehicle planned in period**.
4. Click a row to open the equipment.

## Create a means of transport

1. Click **\+ Create means of transport**.
2. Select the type under **Select means of transport type** (required), and a sub type if your platform uses them.
3. Enter a **Name**, for example Trailer-001.
4. Enter the **License Plate**, **Equipment ID** and, if needed, the **Seal** and **Quantity**.
5. Fill in **Dimensions & capacity**: dimensions, weight, **Gross weight**, **Maximum load capacity**, **Load meters** and **CBM**.
6. Add **Axles** with **\+ Add axle** if you calculate axle loads.
7. Optionally add **Limitations**, **Cost** modules and a board computer under **Select on-board computer**.
8. Click **Save**.

The types and sub types come from your platform's configuration. A type can hide fields it does not need, so the form may look different per type. See [Types and attributes](/en/help/types-and-attributes).

## Connect equipment to a vehicle

1. Right-click the equipment in the list.
2. Choose **Attach to vehicle**.
3. Search for and select the vehicle.
4. Choose **Attach now**, or **Schedule for later** and enter the **Start date & time**.
5. Click **Attach** (or **Plan** when you scheduled it).

## Set availability

Right-click a row and choose **Set availability** to open the **Bulk availability planner**. There you can create a recurring calendar event that blocks or reserves the equipment, for example for maintenance.

## The detail view

The detail view shows the equipment's data, ADR information and any goods and nested means of transport. Depending on your role and features you also see the **Tires**, **Damages** and **To do's** tabs.

## Edit and remove

* Click **Edit** on a row, or right-click and choose **Edit**.
* Click **Remove** and confirm to delete it.
* Tick several rows and choose **Set operational**, **Set inactive** or **Remove** to change them together.

Removing means of transport cannot be undone. Set it inactive if you may need its history later.
