MCP server · OAuth 2.1

# Your TMS, inside the AI assistant you already use

Transportial speaks the Model Context Protocol. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code once, sign in, and ask in plain language about trips, orders, vehicles and invoices. The assistant works as you: it sees what you can see and changes only what you allow.

MCP is the open standard that lets AI assistants use other software. With the Transportial MCP server, your assistant can look up trips, orders, vehicles, drivers, customers, quotes and invoices, and, when you allow it, create and change them. No exports and no copy-pasting between windows: you ask, the assistant does the work in Transportial and tells you what it did.

## Connect in two minutes

Add the server URL to your assistant. The first time it connects, a Transportial window opens where you sign in and approve the connection.

### Claude

### Any other MCP client

Remote servers over HTTP with OAuth

1. Point the client at the server URL.
2. The client finds the sign-in itself through the standard OAuth discovery and registers itself.
3. Sign in to Transportial and approve.

Menu names can differ slightly between versions and plans of each assistant. On team and enterprise plans, an owner may need to add the connector for the organisation first.

## What happens when you connect

You stay in control at every step. Nothing is shared until you approve it in Transportial itself.

1. ### You add the server
Paste the server URL into your assistant. It recognises Transportial and asks you to sign in.
2. ### You sign in to Transportial
A browser window opens on Transportial. Log in the way you always do, including two-factor authentication or single sign-on.
3. ### You choose platform and access
Pick the platform the assistant may work in, and whether it may only view data or also create, change and delete it. Then click Allow.
4. ### You ask
Back in the assistant, ask your question. It calls Transportial as you and shows which tools it used.

### Connect Claude

Claude wants to work in Transportial on your behalf (you@yourcompany.com). It can only do what you can do, limited to the access you choose below.

After you decide, you return to claude.ai.

The app’s name is provided by the app itself. Only connect an app you started connecting yourself and trust.

## What your assistant can do

37 dedicated tools cover the questions and tasks people bring most. Three general tools reach the rest of the Transportial API, more than 800 operations, so the assistant does not get stuck at the edge of a list.

### Orders and consignments

Find, read, create, update and cancel transport orders, and look up their consignments and trips.

* `search_transport_orders`View
* `get_transport_order`View
* `list_transport_order_trips`View

* `search_trips`View
* `get_trip`View
* `confirm_trip`Change
* `cancel_trip`Change

### Vehicles and drivers

Find vehicles and drivers, see a vehicle’s trips and the latest known position of your fleet.

* `search_vehicles`View
* `get_vehicle`View
* `list_vehicle_trips`View
* `get_vehicle_locations`View
* `search_chauffeurs`View
* `get_chauffeur`View

### Customers and addresses

### Everything else

Search the full API, read how an operation works and call it, as the signed-in user on their platform.

* `search_operations`
* `describe_operation`
* `call_operation`

## Things to ask

Ask the way you would ask a colleague. The assistant chooses the right tools.

* “Which trips are running late today, and who is driving them?”
* “Where is truck 12-BXL-4 right now, and what is its next stop?”
* “Create a transport order: 12 pallets from Rotterdam to Lyon, loading Tuesday at 08:00.”
* “Which invoices for this customer are still open, and what is the total?”
* “Make a quote for a full truck from Venlo to Milan and send it to the customer.”
* “Summarise today’s open alerts and solve the ones that are already handled.”
* “Send the driver of trip T-1042 a message that the unloading dock changed to 7.”
* “Which of our vehicles have no trips planned tomorrow?”

## Safe by design

The assistant gets exactly the access you give it, and you can take it back at any moment.

* It works as you
Every call runs as the signed-in user, with that user’s role and permissions. An assistant can never do more than you can yourself.
* View-only or full access
Grant only View data and the connection is read-only on every level: tools that change data disappear and Transportial refuses changes.
* One platform per connection
The connection only reaches the platform you picked when you approved it, even if you work in several.
* Disconnect at any time
Settings › Security › Connected apps lists every assistant with its platform, its access and when it was last used. Disconnect ends its access straight away.
* Standard OAuth 2.1
Sign-in with PKCE, access tokens that last one hour and refresh tokens that change on every use. Reusing an old refresh token ends the whole connection.
* Switched on per platform
Connected apps are enabled per platform. If yours is not enabled yet, the approval screen says so. Ask your administrator or contact us to switch it on.

## Technical details

For developers connecting a client or building their own agent. The server follows the MCP specification and the OAuth standards it builds on.

Endpoint

POST https://api.app.transportial.com/mcp

Transport

Streamable HTTP with JSON responses. Stateless, no server-sent event stream.

Protocol versions

2025-11-25, 2025-06-18 and 2025-03-26.

Discovery

/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource (RFC 9728) and /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server (RFC 8414).

Authorization code with PKCE (S256 only). Tokens are bound to the MCP server as their audience.

Scopes

read and write. A token without write can only call get, search and exists operations.

Lifetimes

Access token 1 hour, refresh token 30 days, rotated on every use.

Agents without a user

Create an API access integration and use its key and secret with the client\_credentials grant. The token carries the integration’s permissions.

Limits

A tool call times out after 120 seconds. Very long results are cut off with a hint to ask for fewer results.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to other software through tools. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and many other assistants support it.

### Which AI assistants can I connect?

Every assistant that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP with OAuth sign-in, such as Claude, ChatGPT in developer mode, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code with GitHub Copilot.

### Does the assistant see all our data?

It sees what the signed-in user sees on the one platform chosen during approval, and nothing more. Role permissions apply to every call.

### Can the assistant change or delete data?

Only if you grant Create, change and delete data. With View data alone, every change is refused.

### How do I disconnect an assistant?

Open Settings › Security, find it under Connected apps and click Disconnect. Its access ends immediately.

### Can we connect our own AI agent?

Yes. An agent that acts for a person signs in with OAuth like any other client. An agent that runs on its own uses the key and secret of an API access integration.

### Why does the approval screen say connected apps are not enabled?

Connected apps are switched on per platform. Ask your administrator or contact Transportial to enable them for your platform.

## Bring Transportial into your assistant

Add the server URL, sign in, and ask your first question.
