Each region charges on its own road network. Your on-board unit must be on on every Belgian road, but you only pay on the roads below. ### Flanders Every motorway with its ramps and bretels (A1, A2, A3, A4, A7, A8, A10, A11, A12, A13, A14, A17, A18, A19, A21, A25, A112, A201, R0, R1, R2, R4, and R8), plus the regional roads and sections in the table. The map shows the official charging network of the Service public de Wallonie. ### Brussels In the Brussels-Capital Region every road is charged. The motorways (the A12, E40, E411 and the Brussels sections of the Ring) take the motorway rate; every other road the higher urban rate. ## How does this calculator work? It requests the fastest route and lays every stretch of it over the official charging networks: for Wallonia the charging network of the Service public de Wallonie, for Brussels the region boundary and its motorways, and for Flanders the roads in Annex 2 of the Flemish Tax Code, cut from the road register of the Agency for Roads and Traffic (AWV). It then multiplies the kilometres per region by the rate for your weight, Euro and CO₂ class. The result is an estimate: the actual charge follows from your on-board unit’s GPS record and the route the driver really drives. ## Belgian truck toll: frequently asked questions ### What is the Belgian kilometre charge? Since 1 April 2016, trucks over 3.5 tonnes in Belgium pay a charge per kilometre driven on designated roads. Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels each charge on their own road network, at their own rates. The charge is collected through a mandatory on-board unit (OBU) and managed by Viapass. ### Who has to pay the kilometre charge? Every goods vehicle (category N) with a maximum authorised mass over 3.5 tonnes, loaded or empty, Belgian or foreign, and tractor units with body code BC. The rate depends on the maximum authorised mass including the trailer. Vehicles such as defence, fire and police vehicles can be exempted. ### Which roads does the kilometre charge apply to? In Flanders: every motorway, the R0, R1, R2, R4 and R8 rings and about seventy designated regional roads. In Wallonia: SOFICO’s structuring network of motorways, city rings and main N-roads. In Brussels: every road. The map and the list above show every charged section. ### Why are there two rates in Brussels? Brussels charges on every road in the region, but at a lower rate on its motorways than on the other, urban roads. For a Euro VI truck over 32 tonnes that is currently €0.171 per km on the motorway and €0.271 per km on other roads. ### Does the CO₂ class matter? Only in Flanders: since 1 July 2026 the rate for Euro VI trucks also depends on CO₂ emission class 1 to 4\. Vehicles registered before 1 July 2019, or without proof of their class, are class 1\. Zero-emission trucks are class 5\. Wallonia and Brussels do not (yet) differentiate by CO₂. ### How is the kilometre charge calculated? Per region: kilometres on the charging network × the rate for your weight and emission class. Flanders charges 99% of the registered kilometres (a 1% GPS correction). Example: 100 km in Flanders with a Euro VI truck over 32 tonnes in CO₂ class 1 currently costs €28.21\. The rate is €0.285 per km in Flanders and €0.205 per km excluding VAT in Wallonia. ### What do zero-emission trucks pay? Flanders and Brussels charge zero-emission trucks a much lower rate: the reduction is 80% in 2026 and tapers to 20% in 2029\. Zero-emission trucks up to 4.25 tonnes pay nothing until the end of 2029\. Wallonia has no separate rate: a zero-emission truck pays the Euro VI rate there. ### Do I need an on-board unit (OBU)? Yes. Every chargeable truck needs an activated on-board unit from an accredited provider before it enters Belgium, switched on on every public road. Accredited providers include Satellic, Axxès, Telepass, Toll4Europe, TotalEnergies (AS24) and W.A.G. (Eurowag). Paying afterwards is not possible.
