Trucks over 3,500 kg pay the vrachtwagenheffing on almost every Dutch motorway (A-road), on 38 designated N-roads and on four municipal routes. Every other road is toll-free for trucks, including the N62 and the N57 in Zeeland. The official list names exact sections: only those stretches are tolled. ### Motorways (A-roads) All motorways are tolled except the A31 and A270, which have no through connection to the rest of the motorway network. A few motorways are tolled over part of their length only. The toll applies in both directions. ### Municipal roads Four cities have tolled municipal routes, mostly roads that trucks could otherwise use to bypass a motorway: * **Rotterdam**: Parallelroute A15 (I, II, III) — port area Botlek / Vondelingenweg * **Maastricht**: Belgische grens – Via Regia – Noorderbrug – Viaductweg – A2 Maastricht-Noord; Brusselseweg – Belvédèrelaan – Noorderbrug * **'s-Hertogenbosch**: Vlijmenseweg – Randweg * **Utrecht**: Waterlinieweg (rotonde N237 de Berekuil – A12 aansluiting Houten) ### Not tolled: N62, N57 and other N-roads These frequently searched N-roads are not part of the toll network, so trucks pay no vrachtwagenheffing on them: * **N62**: A58 – Westerscheldetunnel – Terneuzen – Sluiskiltunnel – Zelzate (BE) * **N57**: Middelburg – Veerse Gatdam – Oosterscheldekering – Brouwersdam – Haringvlietdam – A15/N15 (Rozenburg) * N14, N15, N31, N33, N35, N36, N48, N59, N61, and N99 The Westerscheldetunnel on the N62 charges its own toll, separate from the truck toll. Since 30 December 2024, vehicles lower than 3 metres (cars and motorcycles, also with a caravan or trailer) pass free of charge. Vehicles higher than 3 metres, such as trucks, pay € 18,20 (under 12 m long) or € 25,00 (over 12 m) per passage at the 2026 standard rate. Since 1 July 2026, trucks with a maximum permissible mass over 3,500 kg (vehicle categories N2 and N3) pay a toll for every kilometre they drive on Dutch motorways and on designated N-roads and municipal roads. The rate per kilometre depends on the truck's weight class and its Euro or CO₂ emission class. ### How is the truck toll calculated? Multiply the kilometres you drive on toll roads by the rate for your weight class and emission class. For example, a truck over 32,000 kg in Euro 6 pays € 0,156 per km at today's rate, so 100 km of toll road costs € 15,60\. The calculator above measures the tolled distance of your route and applies the right rate. ### Which roads are tolled in the Netherlands? Almost all motorways (every A-road except the A31 and the A270), 38 designated N-roads such as the N2, N11, N50 and N65, and four municipal routes in Rotterdam, Maastricht, 's-Hertogenbosch and Utrecht. The table above lists every tolled N-road section; the route analysis in the calculator shows how many kilometres of your route fall on toll roads. ### Is there a toll on the N62 or the N57? There is no truck toll: the N62 and the N57 in Zeeland are not part of the vrachtwagenheffing network. The Westerscheldetunnel on the N62 does charge its own toll, but only for vehicles higher than 3 metres, such as trucks and buses (€ 18,20 to € 25,00 per passage in 2026). Cars and motorcycles have used the tunnel free of charge since 30 December 2024. ### Do cars pay toll in the Netherlands? No. The vrachtwagenheffing only applies to trucks over 3,500 kg, so passenger cars pay no toll on Dutch motorways or N-roads. The Westerscheldetunnel (N62) has been free for vehicles lower than 3 metres since 30 December 2024\. The Kiltunnel (N217) near Dordrecht still charges a toll. ### What do electric trucks pay? Electric trucks fall under CO₂ emission class 5, which has the lowest rate in every weight class. ### Is there a discount on the truck toll in 2026? Yes. From 1 September to 31 December 2026, a temporary 22.3% government reduction applies to all rates.
