What is SeaRates?
SeaRates is a digital logistics platform. Its tracking system follows shipments across more than 180 ocean carriers — plus air, rail and parcel — and returns milestones, ETAs, transshipments and delays through an API.

The vessel’s name and IMO number and its latest AIS position appear on the sea trip.

The sequence of ports (by UN/LOCODE) is kept up to date with estimated and actual arrival and departure times.

Load and discharge
Actual load and discharge times are set on the loading and unloading stops, the trip moves to in transit or completed, and the route is recalculated. Other connected systems receive the change like any trip update.
How to connect SeaRates
Get an API key for SeaRates’ tracking API.
Add the SeaRates integration in Transportial with that key.
Give sea trips a bill of lading number (or a booking number) and, ideally, the carrier. Active sea trips are then updated every five minutes.
Typical use case
A forwarder brings import containers from Asia to Rotterdam and plans the delivery by truck. Because the vessel ETA and the actual discharge time update themselves on the sea leg in Transportial, the planner can move the road leg as soon as the vessel is delayed — instead of checking carrier websites every morning.
Frequently asked questions
Can I track by container number?
Tracking runs on the bill of lading number, or the booking number when there is no B/L, of the sea trip. The events of the first container on that B/L are applied to the trip.
How often is the tracking updated?
Every five minutes, for sea trips that are accepted, confirmed or in transit.
Does it include gate-in and gate-out events?
No. The integration covers the vessel, its position, port arrivals and departures, and load and discharge times.
