ADR (dangerous goods)

ADR is the European agreement governing the international road transport of dangerous goods, setting rules for classification, packaging, labelling, documentation, and driver training.

ADR transporthazmat road transport

ADR (from the French agreement title for the carriage of dangerous goods by road) ensures hazardous materials move safely. It dictates how goods are classified and packed, how vehicles are marked, what documents must accompany the load, and what certification drivers need.

A TMS supports ADR operations by recording driver ADR certifications, flagging dangerous-goods constraints in routing, and attaching the required documentation to the transport order.

Frequently asked questions

Who needs ADR certification?

Drivers transporting dangerous goods above certain thresholds must hold a valid ADR training certificate, and operators must meet ADR requirements for vehicles, packaging, and documentation. Requirements depend on the goods’ classification.
