A waybill is a transport document issued by a carrier that lists the goods, the route, and the parties involved, accompanying a shipment as a record of carriage.
Unlike a bill of lading, a waybill is typically non-negotiable: it acts as a receipt and a record of the contract of carriage but does not confer title to the goods. Different modes have their own forms — for example the CMR for road, the air waybill (AWB) for air freight, and the sea waybill for ocean.
A TMS generates and stores the relevant waybill for each shipment and links it to the transport order for a complete document trail.
Transportial puts these concepts to work in one operational platform — planning, tracking, documents, and finance.
