Tachograph
A tachograph is a device fitted to commercial vehicles that records driving time, speed, and distance to enforce drivers’ hours rules.
Modern smart tachographs record driver activity automatically and store it on driver cards and vehicle units, providing the evidence used to enforce EU Regulation 561/2006. Operators must download, retain, and analyse this data.
A TMS can ingest tachograph and driver-card data through telematics integrations, giving planners up-to-date remaining driving and rest times without manual checks.
