Cabotage
Cabotage is the transport of goods between two points within the same country by a carrier registered in another country, subject to EU restrictions.
EU rules limit how many cabotage operations a foreign carrier may perform after an international delivery, and within what time window, to balance the single market with fair competition. The rules have been tightened under the EU Mobility Package.
Operators planning cross-border work need to track cabotage limits carefully; a TMS helps by recording trips and movements that make compliance auditable.
