DPD integration

Book DPD shipments in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany from your consignments with the DPD label on the consignment, and follow DPD parcel numbers, with deliveries completing the stops.

What is DPD?

DPD is the parcel network of Geopost, run in each country by a national DPD company. Transportial connects to the DPD Shipper Webservice of DPD Netherlands and DPD Belgium/Luxembourg and to DPD Web Connect of DPD Germany, with your Delis ID: the shipment service creates parcels and labels, the parcel life cycle service follows them.

What syncs between DPD and Transportial

  • To DPD

    Consignments → DPD shipments

When a trip forwarded under a capacity contract that uses the DPD integration is confirmed, each consignment is booked on your DPD account. Parcels come from the goods with weight and dimensions, the consignment number is the reference, and texts longer than DPD allows are split or shortened and noted in the integration log.

  • Into Transportial

    Labels and parcel numbers

The DPD label — PDF on A6 or A4, or ZPL for thermal printers — and the 14-digit parcel numbers are stored on the consignment.

  • To DPD

    DPD products

DPD Classic, DPD Home with Predict, delivery to a DPD Pickup parcel shop, Shop Return, Saturday delivery, Express 8:30, 10:00, 12:00 and 18:00 and the ParcelLetter, as far as your DPD country offers them. Without the receiver’s e-mail or mobile number, Predict falls back to Classic.

  • To DPD

    Customs outside the EU

Shipments to countries such as Switzerland, Norway or the UK carry customs data from the goods: value, HS code, weight and origin.

  • Into Transportial

    Tracking and stop completion

DPD’s scans come back on the consignment, in the scanning depot’s local time. Pickup completes the loading stop and delivery the unloading stop; a parcel waiting in a parcel shop counts as out for delivery until it is collected.

  • Into Transportial

    DPD numbers booked elsewhere

Add a DPD parcel number to a consignment to follow a parcel created on your DPD account with another tool, such as DPD Shipper or a webshop plugin.

How to connect DPD

  1. Parcel carriers are switched on per platform: ask us to enable them for your Transportial account.

  2. Ask your DPD sales contact for webservice access: a Delis ID and password for the stage (test) and live environment, and your sending depot. DPD validates test labels before it opens the live environment.

  3. Add the DPD integration in Transportial with the Delis ID and password, choose your DPD country (Netherlands, Belgium/Luxembourg or Germany), the default service and the label format. Turn on the sandbox option while you test on DPD’s stage environment.

  4. Set a capacity contract’s communication method to this integration. Trips forwarded under that contract are booked at DPD as soon as you confirm them.

Sync frequency and limits

  • Shipments are booked when the trip is confirmed; consignments added later are booked on the next trip update, never twice with the same integration.
  • Open parcel numbers are checked every 60 minutes by default — configurable per integration — one parcel per call, as DPD requires, until the parcel is delivered or returned.
  • Transportial logs in once and reuses DPD’s login token for its 24 hours, books one shipment at a time and pauses when DPD asks it to slow down.
  • DPD has no cancel call: a label that is never handed to DPD is not shipped.

Typical use case

A wholesaler in Utrecht ships cases of wine to restaurants across the Netherlands and Belgium. Consignments are planned on a trip under a DPD capacity contract with DPD Classic as default; confirming the trip books them and the labels are printed from the consignments before the daily DPD pickup. Planners see DPD’s scans on each consignment and the delivery stop closes when DPD reports the parcel delivered.

Frequently asked questions

Which DPD countries are supported?

DPD Netherlands and DPD Belgium/Luxembourg over the DPD Shipper Webservice, and DPD Germany over DPD Web Connect. You need a contract and a Delis ID with that DPD company.

Can I cancel a DPD shipment from Transportial?

No. DPD’s webservices have no cancel operation. Discard the label of a shipment you no longer need; a parcel is only shipped once DPD scans it.

Can I track DPD parcels that were not booked in Transportial?

Yes, as long as they were sent on your own DPD account: DPD only shows tracking for your own shipping volumes.

Does Transportial support cash on delivery with DPD?

No. DPD does not offer cash on delivery over its webservices for these countries.
