  • Office to driver: Dispatchers can message drivers directly from the Plan Board or the trip detail view. Drivers reply from the OpenMove app.
  • Push notifications: New messages generate push notifications on mobile devices and browser notifications on desktop.
  • Full message history: Every message is stored permanently. Search conversations, review what was communicated about a specific order.
  • Read receipts: See when a message has been delivered and read. Critical when you need to confirm a driver has acknowledged a route change.
Technical details

Chat is implemented over Socket.IO with room-based architecture. Messages are persisted to PostgreSQL. Push notifications use Firebase Cloud Messaging.
