Key highlights

  • Live GPS via OpenMove: Drivers using the OpenMove app broadcast their location continuously. The map updates in near real time with no additional hardware required.
  • Transics board computer integration: For operations using Transics hardware, vehicle and driver telemetry, including tachograph data and ignition events, is pulled in automatically.
  • Direct truck-manufacturer connections: DAF, Scania, Volvo, Renault, Mercedes-Benz, MAN and IVECO trucks connect straight to their factory-fitted unit over the ACEA rFMS standard. Position, fuel, AdBlue, battery state and axle loads arrive with no retrofitted box, and one connector covers a mixed-brand fleet.
  • Remote tachograph download: Driver cards and vehicle mass memory are collected automatically from the manufacturer, read with the built-in DDD parser, and filed against the right driver or vehicle — so the 28-day and 90-day download deadlines are met without anyone walking to the cab with a key.
  • Watchtower overview board: A dedicated live monitoring screen shows all active vehicles on a map alongside their current status, speed, and ETA.
  • IoT sensor telemetry: Connect sensors to each vehicle or trailer to monitor temperature, pressure, humidity, speed, and cargo weight in real time.
  • Configurable alerts: Set threshold-based alerts at info, warning, or critical severity, e.g. temperature above 8°C, speed over 90 km/h, or geofence entry/exit.
  • Historical playback: Replay any vehicle's journey for a given day. Useful for dispute resolution, performance review, and customer queries.

How it works

  1. Connect your sources

    Positions arrive from whatever your fleet already has: the OpenMove driver app needs no hardware at all, while board computers such as Transics are connected per vehicle and feed telemetry, tachograph data, and ignition events automatically.

  2. One tracking layer

    All sources flow into the same live layer, so a mixed fleet — own trucks with board computers, subcontractors on the app — appears on one map with one set of ETAs.

  3. Watch the operation live

    The Watchtower board shows every active order and vehicle with current position, status, ETA, and next action. Fleet controllers scan one screen instead of juggling telematics portals per provider.

  4. Let alerts do the watching

    Threshold alerts at info, warning, or critical severity fire on the conditions you define — temperature above 8°C, speed over 90 km/h, geofence entry. Alerts can trigger message automations, so the right people are informed without anyone staring at a dashboard.

  5. Replay when it matters

    Historical playback reconstructs any vehicle's day — route, stops, and sensor readings — for dispute resolution, performance review, or a customer asking what happened to their delivery.

One control tower for a mixed fleet

Real fleets are heterogeneous. Some trucks carry board computers, subcontractors bring whatever they have, and newly leased vehicles arrive with nothing installed. The usual result is three telematics portals open in three browser tabs, and a controller mentally merging them — which works until the day it does not.

Transportial consolidates GPS from the OpenMove app, board computer feeds such as Transics, and third-party telematics into a single tracking layer. The Watchtower board reads from that layer, so "where is everything right now" has one answer regardless of which hardware produced the position. For subcontracted capacity, the driver app alone provides live tracking with zero installation.

Cold chain and hazmat need more than a dot on a map

For temperature-controlled and dangerous-goods transport, position is the least interesting signal. What matters is whether the reefer held 4°C for the whole journey, and whether anyone found out in time when it did not. Discovering a temperature excursion at the delivery dock means the load is already lost.

IoT sensors connected per vehicle or trailer stream temperature, pressure, humidity, speed, and weight into the same live view as position. Threshold alerts turn those streams into action: a rising temperature triggers a critical alert and, through message automations, can notify the driver, the dispatcher, and the customer before the cargo is at risk. The full sensor history is stored per trip, which is exactly the evidence an insurer or food-safety auditor asks for.

ETAs your customers can see

Most "where is my delivery" calls are not complaints — they are information requests that interrupt a planner mid-task. Each one costs minutes and answers exactly one customer once.

Because tracking data flows through the platform, it powers customer-facing views automatically: secure public tracking links per shipment and the customer portal both show live progress and ETAs without anyone in your office lifting a phone. The same data, shared once, answers the question for every customer continuously.

Technical details

Location data is processed by the Worker backend mode and stored against trip entities. The Watchtower board uses a Socket.IO channel for push-based live updates, avoiding polling.

Do I need to install hardware to track my vehicles?

No. The OpenMove driver app broadcasts live GPS from the driver's phone, which is enough for real-time tracking with no installation. Board computers and telematics units can be connected in addition, and everything appears in the same view.
