Connect MAN trucks through the RIO platform over rFMS — live telemetry, engine and battery data, and remote tachograph download.
What is MAN (RIO)?
RIO is the cloud platform for telematics and logistics services that TRATON launched in 2016, starting as an MAN initiative. Every MAN truck delivered in Europe since August 2017 has the RIO Box fitted as standard, and services from other providers are booked through the RIO Marketplace.

Every three hours: VIN, licence plate, brand and model, tank or battery capacity, tachograph and gearbox type.

Position and vehicle status
Every minute over the ACEA rFMS standard: position, speed and altitude, odometer, engine hours, fuel used and fuel level, AdBlue level, RPM, temperatures, gross combination weight and distance to service. Electric trucks add state of charge, charging power and range.

Remote tachograph download
Every six hours, driver-card and vehicle-unit files are downloaded, stored as documents and matched to the driver by card number and to the truck by VIN. Needs tachograph access licensed with the manufacturer.
How to connect MAN (RIO)
Book the Transportial connection on the RIO Marketplace for the trucks you want to connect.
RIO provides the OAuth client credentials (client ID and secret) for the connection.
The trucks are imported into Transportial and matched on VIN; switch on tachograph download if it is part of your subscription.
Typical use case
A haulier with a fleet of MAN trucks wants live positions and fuel data in planning without fitting a third-party telematics box. The factory-fitted RIO Box already collects the data; through rFMS it lands in Transportial, and tachograph files arrive without anyone visiting the truck.

Do I need extra hardware?
No, the connection uses the factory-fitted RIO Box and the standard rFMS interface. You do need an active data subscription for each truck.
Can Transportial send trips or messages to an MAN truck?
No. rFMS is a read-only interface, so the integration receives vehicle data only. Drivers receive their trips in the Transportial driver app.
How up to date is the data?
Positions and status are fetched every minute, the vehicle list every three hours and tachograph files every six hours.
