Trimble integration
Cutting-edge navigation and fleet tracking. Stay ahead in route planning and vehicle monitoring.
What syncs between Trimble and Transportial
- To Trimble
Trips to the board computer
When a trip is created, Transportial sends it to Trimble with its number and name. Every stop goes as a task with stop type, address, coordinates, end of the time window and remark; every activity with its type and the PIN, TAR, seal and remark.
- To Trimble
Trip updates
Changes to a trip that is confirmed, in transit, pending completion or modified are sent to the board computer again.
- Both ways
Driver messages
Planner messages from the vehicle chat go to the active terminals of the vehicle and driver. Messages typed on the terminal come back into the chat with a push notification.
- Into Transportial
Positions and events
Each trace updates the location of the truck and the coupled trailer, with speed, heading and mileage. Driver login and logout, border crossings, geofence entry and exit, ignition on and off and trailer coupling and uncoupling are recorded as events.
- Into Transportial
Driver activities
Activities registered on the board computer become timeline events with start time, duration, fuel and driving minutes. Start and end are matched into one event, and traces sent twice are ignored.
- Into Transportial
Units and drivers
Trimble units are imported as board computers (truck, trailer or mobile unit); drivers with their name, tachograph card and phone number.
How to connect Trimble
Get the credentials for the Trimble fleet service: a username, password and your Trimble customer ID.
Add the Trimble integration in Transportial and enter them. The service address is filled in by default.
Check that every imported unit is linked to the right vehicle, so trips, positions and messages reach the right truck.
Sync frequency and limits
- Traces (positions, events and activities) every 5 minutes, driver messages every minute.
- Units are refreshed every 8 hours, drivers every 4 hours.
- Traces and messages are read from a saved sync position that only moves on after a successful run, so a missed period is caught up on the next one. The first sync looks back three hours.
Typical use case
A haulier with Trimble board computers plans in Transportial. New trips go to the truck with every stop, PIN and TAR, so drivers no longer copy references from a phone call. The activities they register on the board computer, the positions and the trailer coupling come back on the vehicle’s timeline, and planners and drivers keep one conversation in the vehicle chat.
Frequently asked questions
When does a trip reach the Trimble board computer?
As soon as it is created in Transportial. Later changes are sent again while the trip is confirmed, in transit, pending completion or modified.
Which data comes back from Trimble?
Positions with speed, heading and mileage, driver activities with duration, fuel and driving minutes, driver login and logout, border crossings, geofence and ignition events, trailer coupling and driver messages.
Can planners and drivers message each other?
Yes. Messages from the vehicle chat in Transportial go to the terminal, and the driver’s messages arrive in the same chat within about a minute.
Connect Trimble to your TMS
Transportial’s integration framework links your operation to Trimble and any other system you run.
