Enterprise routing
Routing in logistics is never just "find the shortest path". Transportial's routing engine accounts for truck dimensions, hazmat restrictions, ferry crossings, maritime lanes, and air freight bookings, so the route you generate is the one your vehicle can actually travel.
Road
- GraphHopper with truck model: Road routing is powered by GraphHopper using a custom truck model that accounts for vehicle height, weight, axle load, tunnel restrictions, and hazmat classifications.
- Avoid restrictions automatically: Routes avoid roads with weight or height restrictions that the assigned vehicle cannot clear, automatically, without any manual intervention.
- Real-time data integration: Connect to live traffic and road condition data to dynamically adjust ETAs and reroute when necessary.
Maritime
- MARNET sea route calculation: Maritime shipments are routed using the MARNET global maritime network, calculating realistic sea-lane distances and transit times.
- Port-to-port planning: Build multi-leg transport orders that combine road legs to and from ports with a sea crossing, all within a single transport order.
Air & Rail
- Air freight booking management: Create and manage air freight bookings as legs within a multi-modal transport order, with flight details, AWB references, and status tracking.
- Rail freight: Book and track rail freight legs with wagon numbers, departure/arrival terminals, and carrier references, all connected to the parent transport order.
Enterprise Routing with PTV
- PTV xRoute/xTour integration: For operations that need the most advanced routing and tour planning capabilities, Transportial integrates with PTV xRoute and xTour.
- Advanced optimisation: PTV enables complex constraints including multi-day tours, loading equipment, driver skill matching, and tight time-window scenarios.
Technical details
The routing engine runs as a dedicated backend mode. Road routing uses GraphHopper's OpenStreetMap-based graph. Maritime routing uses the MARNET dataset. PTV calls are made via its REST API.
