Print CMR documents
Download a filled-in CMR consignment note for each consignment of an order or trip, and learn where each box gets its data from.
Updated 13 October 2026
The CMR is the international consignment note for road transport. Transportial fills it in for you from the consignment: one CMR per consignment, as a PDF with the four coloured copies on separate A4 pages.
Print the CMRs of a transport order
- Open the transport order.
- Click the CMR icon (tooltip Print CMR) at the top right.
- Allow your browser to download multiple files if it asks. Transportial downloads one PDF per consignment, one after another.
- Open the PDFs and print them.
From the transport orders list, right-click the order and choose Print CMR. An order with one consignment gives one PDF. An order with several consignments gives one zip file with a CMR for each consignment.
If a CMR could not be made for some consignments, you see Some CMRs could not be created with the consignments that are missing. The other CMRs are in the download.
Print the CMR of a consignment or trip
- Open the consignment and click the CMR icon, or right-click the consignment in a list and choose Print CMR.
- Open a trip and click the CMR icon. You get one CMR per consignment on the trip.
Where the CMR gets its data
| CMR part | Filled from |
|---|---|
| Sender | The original legal sender of the consignment, otherwise the customer, otherwise the first stop. |
| Consignee | The original legal recipient of the consignment, otherwise the last stop. |
| Place of delivery | The last stop of the consignment. |
| Place and date of taking over | The first stop and its time. |
| Goods | Marks and numbers, quantity, packaging, nature of the goods, gross weight and volume of each goods line. Dangerous goods show their ADR details. |
| Carrier | The executing company of the order, otherwise the company of its administration. |
| Successive carrier | Only when the consignment is forwarded on a trip of another carrier. |
| Special agreements | Any intermediate stops between the first pickup and the last delivery. |
| Number and carrier code | The consignment's external reference or the order ID, and the transport licence number of your company. |
To get the sender and consignee right on combined transport, switch on Is combined transport in the consignment and fill in the original legal sender and recipient. See Add consignments and goods.
The goods area has room for six lines. When there are more, the last line reads "+ N more goods — see annex", so attach a separate goods list.
With the document inbox, your CMRs can carry a small QR code in the lower-right corner of box 18. When the signed CMR comes back, the inbox reads the code and links it to the right consignment. See Process documents in the document inbox.
Neutral CMR for the executing carrier
With the neutralCmr feature, the carrier that executes a forwarded trip can get a neutral CMR: the sender (box 1) and/or consignee (box 2) are replaced, for example by your own company, while the places of taking over and delivery (boxes 3 and 4) stay. The same applies to the eCMR and the order the carrier receives. Set it under Neutral CMR on the capacity contract (the default for that carrier), on the forwarded trip or on the consignment; the most specific setting wins.
On a forwarded trip with a neutral CMR, the CMR icon downloads two PDFs per consignment: your own CMR and the carrier's neutral one, whose file name ends in -neutral. See Trip documents, CMRs and PDFs.
