Load planning is one of the biggest sources of inefficiency and compliance risk in logistics. Transportial's 3D stack map lets you arrange goods inside a realistic 3D trailer view, validate load plans against weight and stacking rules, and share the final plan with the driver, all before the truck moves.

How it works

  1. Model your equipment

    Each trailer and vehicle carries its real internal dimensions, maximum weights, load meters and cubic capacity. The load planner works with the space you actually have.

  2. Describe the cargo

    Goods lines carry dimensions, weight, quantity and stacking rules — fragile, do not stack, stack up to N layers. These come straight from the transport order.

  3. Arrange in 3D

    Drag pallets and boxes inside an interactive 3D view of the trailer. Rotate, zoom and rearrange until the load fits the way it should be loaded at the dock.

  4. Validate against the rules

    Weight limits, volume, floor load and stacking constraints are enforced as you plan. A plan that overloads an axle or crushes cargo is flagged before anything is loaded.

  5. Share the plan

    The confirmed load plan is available to drivers and dock workers, so loading follows the plan instead of improvisation — and unloading order matches the stop sequence.

Load meters, CBM and why maths at the dock is expensive

Trailer space is sold and planned in abstractions — load meters, cubic metres, pallet places — but loaded in concrete boxes with real dimensions. The gap between the two is where money leaks: a trailer that is "full" on paper at 28 load meters but has a metre of unusable space over the axles, or a groupage plan that only fails at the dock, when the last four pallets do not fit and a second vehicle is dispatched at panic rates.

Planning the load in 3D against the trailer's true internal dimensions closes that gap. Utilisation stops being an estimate: you see what fits, where, before the vehicle is committed. Over a fleet and a season, the difference between planned and actual fill rate is a vehicle you did or did not need to run.

Stacking rules and load safety

Cargo damage rarely comes from the road; it comes from the load plan — heavy on light, three layers on a two-layer pallet, fragile goods at the door taking the strap pressure. Transportial encodes stacking constraints per product and enforces them in the 3D plan, so the rule "never stack on these" is checked by software rather than remembered under time pressure.

Weight distribution is validated the same way. Axle limits and floor loading are part of the plan validation, which matters both for compliance at weighbridges and for how the vehicle actually handles. The plan the driver sees is one that is legal and safe to drive, not just geometrically possible.

One source of truth from order to trailer

Because cargo items in the 3D plan are the consignment lines of the transport order, the load plan is never a parallel document that drifts out of date. Change the order — a load added, a quantity revised — and the load plan reflects it; complete the loading actions and the order's status moves with them.

This also connects load planning to trip planning. The capacity the VRP optimiser assigns against is the same capacity model the load planner validates, so a trip that is combinable on paper is combinable in the trailer. The plan board, the load plan and the driver's app are describing one reality.

What constraints does the load planner validate?

Where do the cargo dimensions come from?

Can drivers and dock workers see the load plan?

Yes. The confirmed plan is shared with the people doing the loading, so goods go in the planned positions and in the right order for the stop sequence.

Does load planning work together with trip optimisation?

Yes. The optimiser assigns work against the same capacity and stacking model the load planner validates, so combinations that fit on paper also fit in the trailer.
