Configure planning and routing for the platform
Set default action durations, trip completion and cancellation rules, exceptions, ETAs, driver hours, routing engines, quote routes and emission reporting.
Updated 4 October 2026
These sections of the platform settings decide how planning and execution work for everyone on your platform. Planners can still change some defaults per trip, and each user has personal planning preferences in the Planning tab of their own settings (see Plan board settings).
Open the sections
- Open the side menu (☰, top right) and choose Settings.
- Click the Environment tab.
- Open Planning, Routing, Emissions, Pricing or Action Result Questionnaires.
- Change the settings and click Save at the bottom of the page.
Planning
- Default durations: Load Action Default Duration, Unload Action Default Duration, the attach and detach durations for means of transport, Default stop action duration and Duration of subsequent grouped stop actions.
- Planning behaviour: Automatically sort actions into the shortest drivable route when dropping a consignment, Show events with actions and the Optimizer Algorithm Configuration.
- Trip completion: Finish Trip On Actions Complete, Require planner completion before a trip can finish, Automatically start actions on arrival at the location and Automatically execute planned attach/detach actions.
- Completing grouped actions: whether drivers complete actions at the same location One by one, choose (Select which ones to handle together) or do All of them together, in OpenMove and on the board computer.
- Unavailable driver handling: Ignore, Warn the planner or Block the assignment when a driver is unavailable, and which Activity types that make a driver unavailable.
- Trip cancellation: what happens to a consignment a cancelled trip left half done, such as returning unexecuted actions to the planning pool, recording where the goods are, flagging it for replanning and notifying the order's team managers.
- Exceptions: Detect planning exceptions automatically, Exceptions to raise, Close exceptions when they no longer apply and the thresholds, for example how many minutes late a trip may start. See Exceptions view.
- ETA calculation: whether ETAs include driver breaks and historical handling times, and how the live estimate is tuned.
- Live activity without a trip: show what a vehicle or driver is doing from telemetry when no trip runs.
- First-to-accept dispatching: offer an unassigned trip to nearby drivers in OpenMove; the first who accepts gets it. Set the radius, the offer expiry and the number of drivers per round.
- Driver hours (EU 561/2006): enforce driving and rest limits when routes are planned, and insert required breaks as visible actions.
- Orders: Only allow active contracts, Include quote lines in transport order PDF, Always combined transport, delivery terms, preferred transport modes and the Pricing category for toll costs.
Action Result Questionnaires
Define the questions drivers answer when they complete an action, per action type, with conditions and the resulting status. Click Generate with AI, describe what you need (for example "Add a damage question with a photo to unloading") or upload an information sheet, and click Generate. Review the result in the editor before you save. See Questionnaires in OpenMove.
Pricing
Choose the Default Chauffeur Cost Pricing and Default Vehicle Cost Pricing used to calculate trip costs when a driver or vehicle has no pricing of its own. See Pricing.
Routing
- Routing Engine: the service that calculates routes, for example Transportial, PTV Developer, HERE or Google Maps, or None (no route calculation).
- Route alternatives mode: alternatives from one engine, or Compare routing engines side by side with the Engines to compare.
- Cost calculation: All costs (toll, fuel, time & emissions), Toll costs only or No cost calculation.
- Route recalculation: Recalculate when the trip changes, Recalculate on every save or Only recalculate manually, and the Recalculation engine.
- Route Optimizer Engine: the engine the optimizer uses. See Optimizer.
- Quote route calculation: how distances for quote lines are calculated, what happens when a route cannot be calculated, and which vehicle the quote is previewed on.
- Sea passages, Inland waterway (barge) and Rail: the canals and straits sea routes may use, water levels and clearances for barges, and track requirements for rail.
Emissions
Choose the Reporting standard (ISO 14083, GLEC or DIN EN 16258) and the Reporting basis (Well-to-wheel (WTW) or Tank-to-wheel (TTW)). You can also break the report down per leg, add an uplift for empty running and override emission factors.
Leave a numeric field empty to use the platform default. Change one setting at a time and check the effect on a few trips before you change the next.
