Operational TMS (OTMS)
An Operational TMS (OTMS) is a transport management system that covers the full day-to-day execution of transport — planning, fleet, drivers, tracking, communication, and finance — not just freight procurement or visibility.
The term "operational" distinguishes this category from procurement-focused platforms (freight marketplaces, tendering tools) and from pure visibility networks. An OTMS is where the actual work of running transport happens every day: building trips on a plan board, assigning drivers, optimising routes, capturing proof of delivery, and closing the financial loop with invoicing.
An OTMS is typically used by the party that physically executes or directly coordinates the transport, and benefits from deep operational features such as a VRP solver, driver app, pricing engine, and document generation in one platform.

How is an OTMS different from a visibility platform?
