Getting started

Use keyboard shortcuts

Open the shortcuts screen, jump between pages, work in lists, switch tabs and perspectives, and use the extra shortcuts of the desktop app.

Keyboard shortcuts let planners move through Transportial without reaching for the mouse. The navigation shortcuts use a different modifier key on Mac than on Windows and Linux, so they do not clash with copy and paste.

Open the shortcuts screen

  1. Press ? (Shift + /) anywhere outside a text field, or open the side menu (☰) and click Show shortcuts.
  2. Read the list under Shortcuts. It shows the keys for your operating system.
  3. Click a group under Switch group settings to switch to it, if you have any.
  4. Press Esc or click outside the screen to close it.

Shortcuts in lists

In lists such as transport orders, vehicles or invoices, press a single letter (without a modifier key) while the cursor is not in a text field:

KeysAction
nCreate a new item for that list, where the list offers one
fOpen the filter panel
sOpen or close the sort menu

The shortcuts screen lists n as New element within the context of the page.

On a Mac, hold Ctrl. On Windows and Linux, hold Alt. Then press the letter.

Keys (Mac / Windows and Linux)Goes to
Ctrl+D / Alt+DDashboard
Ctrl+O / Alt+OTransport orders
Ctrl+N / Alt+NOpens a new transport order form
Ctrl+V / Alt+VVehicles
Ctrl+C / Alt+CDrivers
Ctrl+F / Alt+FFleets
Ctrl+L / Alt+LLocations
Ctrl+M / Alt+MMessages
Ctrl+T / Alt+TOpens a new trip form

These shortcuts do nothing while the cursor is in a text field, so they never interrupt your typing.

External users, such as customers using the portal, have the shortcuts for the dashboard, transport orders and a new transport order only. The other pages are not in their menu, so the shortcuts screen does not show those keys to them either.

Some browsers reserve the same keys. On Windows, for example, Alt+D jumps to the browser's address bar. If a shortcut does not respond in your browser, use Transportial Desktop: its Go menu carries the same shortcuts and they also work inside text fields.

Switch tabs

Press Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows and Linux) with a number from 1 to 9 to open that tab, counting from the left. This works for the dashboard tabs and the tabs of a vehicle's details. In a web browser these keys may switch browser tabs instead; in Transportial Desktop they reach the app.

Switch perspective

Your administrator can give each settings group a key. Press the navigation modifier with Shift and that key: for example Ctrl+Shift+2 on a Mac or Alt+Shift+2 on Windows. The shortcuts screen lists the keys of your groups.
