Trip statuses: confirm, start and finish
Understand each trip status and move a trip from accepted to confirmed, in transit and completed.
Updated 4 October 2026
Every trip has a status that tells you where it is between planning and invoicing. The status decides which buttons you see and when the trip is sent to the driver.
The statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Requested | Proposed but not yet accepted into the plan, for example when it arrived through an integration. |
| Accepted | Part of the plan. New trips start here. You can still change everything freely. |
| Confirmed | Ready to drive. Its actions become planned, and it is sent to the board computer and, for forwarded trips, to the carrier. |
| In transit | The driver is on the way. It is the vehicle's current trip. |
| Pending completion | The driver has finished, and a planner still needs to check and complete it. Only used when your platform requires planner completion. |
| Completed | Finished and closed. End-of-trip invoicing runs. |
| Cancelled | No longer executed. See Cancel, remove or split a trip. |
Confirm a trip
- Make sure the trip has a vehicle.
- Open the trip.
- Check the stops, times and resources.
- Click Confirm at the bottom of the panel.
You can also right-click a trip and choose Confirm, or select several accepted trips on the plan board and click Confirm to confirm them together.
Start a trip
Open a confirmed trip and click Start trip. The button only appears when the vehicle is not already driving another trip.
The status becomes In transit. If the vehicle is more than about 500 metres from the first stop, a drive from its current position to the first stop is added to the route. Drivers usually start trips themselves in OpenMove or on the board computer.
End and complete a trip
- Open the trip that is in transit.
- Click End trip. If another trip is lined up for the vehicle, you can click End trip & start next instead.
- Answer Yes to Finish, are you sure?
- Check the new status at the top of the Information tab.
All remaining actions are marked as realized. The trip becomes Completed, or Pending completion when the platform setting Require planner completion before a trip can finish is on. In that case, check the trip and click Complete trip.
Ending a trip realizes every open action, including ones the driver never did. If only some actions are done, complete them first or use Complete all actions with the right result.
Plan status
Next to the trip status, the Plan status shows whether the trip runs to plan: OK, Too early, Too late or Off route. It is based on the expected arrival at the next stop compared with its time window. See Follow a trip live.
The right-click menu on any trip offers the next status step (Confirm, Start trip, End trip or Complete trip) without opening the trip.
