Register board computers
Link telematics units and mobile devices to vehicles, equipment and drivers so positions, activities and messages flow into Transportial.
Updated 4 October 2026
A board computer is the telematics unit in a truck or trailer, or a mobile device used by a driver. Transportial uses it to match incoming positions, driver activities and sensor readings to the right vehicle, and to send trips and messages back. Most board computers are created by your telematics integration; you can also add one yourself.
Open the list
- Open the side menu (☰).
- Choose Board computers.
- Search by name or identifier, and click a row to see its details.
Create a board computer
- Click + Create board computer.
- Enter a Name (required).
- Under Select board computer type, choose Vehicle, Means of transportation or Mobile.
- Under Select Integration, choose the integration that delivers its data.
- Enter the Board computer identifier: the unit's id at the telematics provider.
- Turn Off/On on to make it active.
- Click Save.
The Board computer identifier must match the id your provider sends exactly. If it differs, positions and activities will not reach the vehicle.
Link it to a vehicle, equipment or driver
- Open the vehicle, means of transport or driver and start editing.
- In Select on-board computer, search for the board computer.
- Click Save.
Details and invite link
The detail view shows the name, type, identifier and whether it is Active. For board computers that use a Telegram integration, Transportial also creates an invite link that a driver opens to link the chat.
Edit or remove
Click Edit on a row, or the pencil icon (✎) in the detail view. Click Remove and confirm to delete it. Data that was already received stays on the vehicle.
